Entrepreneur, scholar, psychologist and mother, Lori Sokol, Ph.D. is President
of Sokol Media, Inc., the publisher of Work Life Matters, Green Matters
and NY Residential magazines. Through these publications and a body of
other work, Dr. Sokol covers a number of pertinent social issues, including
gender equality, the needs of working parents, environmental sustainability
and strides made by female professionals determined to smash the proverbial
"glass ceiling." Passionately committed to addressing these
and related topics, Dr. Sokol strives to empower individuals to triumph
over gender-related societal limits so they can reach their full potential
unhindered.
Bio
Dr. Sokol is a published writer on issues relating to work/life balance
in major market newspapers. Her work has been published in the op-ed pages
of the Baltimore Sun and the Philadelphia Inquirer, and she has also been
interviewed on a variety of television news programs including MSNBC,
CNBC, SmartMoney.com and Fox Five Live. She has also published research
articles on 'Psychology and the Media' in a variety of academic journals,
recently taught a seminar on Media Psychology at the University of Beijing,
China, and served as an Adjunct Professor in the Psychology Department
at Montclair State University where she taught the course, 'Psychology
of Women.'
Dr. Sokol is the single parent of a teenage son and daughter,
both of whom proudly call themselves "feminists."
